  • TRiO Seattle University Visitation

    TRiO & MCS will be traveling from the Bellevue College to Seattle University on May 1st 2012 from 12:30 to 3:00 for a campus visit! Participants will also be able to:  

    Gain an understanding of the campus, meet with university staff and instructors, tour the campus, and enjoy lunch with other prospective applicants

    Applications are available at the TRiO frotn desk. Space is limited so you must register in advance.  The cost of this event is free to TRiO & MCS participants!

  • Math Review Sessions

    There will be 2 math review sessions for next week. One is scheduled Tuesday morning, and another for Wednesday late afternoon. I will come prepared with materials to review, especially important, math concepts to know for finals. However, you are more than welcome to bring your questions to the workshops. Please take advantage of this time to prepare for your math final.

  • Preparing to Transfer, University Pre-Visit Meeting, Transfer Shock

    February 24th, 11:30pm to 12:30pm in S201

    The first portion of this workshop will cover searching for schools, preparing for campus visits, questions to ask college officials, understanding transfer deadlines, writing a successful personal statement, applying for schools and financial aid.

    The second portion will cover what to expect when you transfer to a 4 year college or university.  Topics include, but are not limited to:  the differences between a community college and university, adjusting to a larger academic environment, resources and more.

  • Transfer Visit III: Western Washington University

    TRiO Student Support Services will be traveling to Western Washington University Friday, March 2nd for their Transfer Discovery Day!  We will be leaving the Bellevue College Campus at 9:00am and returning at 4:30pm.  There will be an optional breakfast from 9:00am to 9:30am, and we will provide boxed lunches for lunch on the Western Washington University campus from 12:00pm to 12:30pm. 

    Come enjoy a campus tour, panel presentations with students and faculty, and view a residence hall!

      I hope you will find the review sessions helpful as you prepare for finals. There will be flyers for this event posted around the TRiO area to help remind you of the upcoming sessions.As I have mentioned before, I will come prepared with various materials, but it will …be beneficial for you to come prepared with questions or letting me know what you would like to be working on.

      If you are not able to stay for the whole session or will be joining later, that is absolutely okay. Note the room number, so you know where to find us.

      Room B230A is the fishbowl in the B-building, the room directly in front of you as you walk upstairs to the 2nd floor.
      Room S301 is the 3rd floor in the Science Building.

    Regardless if English is your first language or not, come celebrate the various languages of TRiO together and come practice conversation with non-native English speakers!  It is a wonderful time to get to know other TRiO participants and a wonderful time to enjoy food from around the world!

  • English Language Assistance Orientation

    College level textbooks contain 16-percent of academic vocabulary that often makes classroom readings harder to comprehend, not to mention it may contribute to assigned readings taking that much longer to complete.  By taking part in TRiO’s English Language Assistance Orientation, you are taking the first steps to becoming part of a program that provides tools and resources such as electronic reading pens (which reads vocabulary terms and provides a quick definition in a matter of seconds), electronic translators (which translates vocabulary to your native language), trained tutors that are able to break down key concepts, academic vocabulary center talk-times, advising, second language study tips, and language celebration events!

  • TRiO First Year Experience Class

    If you are new to Bellevue College and TRiO for the year of 2011-2012, don’t forget to sign up for the TRiO First Year Experience class.  Talk to your advisor for more information.

  • HD 120 TRiO Class

    If you are a TRiO participant who has not taken the TRiO class (HD120) please contact me via email as soon as possible to get an entry code and register.  Remember for many of you, this was a requirement that you were asked to complete when you entered the program, so now is a perfect time to complete it.
