Canvas faculty workshops begin June 18

If you’ll be teaching with Canvas this fall, check out the on-campus training workshops and open labs now scheduled. Sessions begin this week and many more dates and times will be added in the coming weeks. If you can’t make it to campus over the summer, you may also take advantage of many Canvas online learning resources.

Canvas Open Lab

This is a drop-in session in A109. Signup is not required.

Canvas Overview

Attend a one-hour session providing you with an overview of the navigation features in Canvas. After attending this session, you should be able to:

  • Log in to Canvas and set profile and notifications
  • Navigate the Canvas interface
  • Set home page, upload a file and post a syllabus
  • Create a basic page, module, assignment and a discussion topic

Canvas Power Session

This 3 hour session that will be a high level view of all of the Instructor tools used in Canvas.
Participants should have completed the Faculty Canvas Online Orientation, passed the quiz, and are starting the migration process.

After attending this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • How to get help for Canvas and find answers to questions in Canvas Guides and the Canvas Community
  • Log into Canvas and set profile and notifications
  • Migration from Blackboard and Publishing your course
  • Navigate Canvas interface
  • Upload, view and organize files, lock folders and files in the Files tool
  • Set your Home Page, and post a Syllabus
  • Establish Assignment group structure
  • Create a Page, Module, Assignment and a Discussion topic
  • How to embed media in a content
  • Create Quizzes
  • Grading Assignments in the SpeedGrader and Gradebook
