Getting Ready for Term End

Canvas course access end date/time

Winter Quarter ends on March 20, 2013.  Access to your Canvas course for students ends on March 25, 2013 at 11:55PM.  This date is a course term end date and directly impacts the students ability to access their course.  Remember that the Conversations Inbox (email) is not tied to individual courses so you will need to notify your students when you availability ends for your course.

Getting students ready for their final exam online

During the end of the quarter we often times get a lot of urgent requests from students who have had problems with their quiz or submitting their final assignments.  We understand that this is a stressful time for all so we have compiles some “best practices” that students can us to better prepare for their final exam or assignment.  Please share with you students.

 A Students guide to successful quiz taking and assignment submission in Canvas

  • Practice Good Time Management
    • Be aware of when the test is available and if there is a time limit.
    • Allow yourself enough time to complete the test.  Once the end date and time have expired the test may close while you have it open.
  • Optimize your environment
    • Be sure to take the test in a quiet and stress free place.
    • Be sure you have a good connection to the internet when taking a test.  Broadband access is preferred.
    • Be sure your computer is running optimally and virus free.  Avoid taking tests and submitting assignments on smartphones.
    • Have only the test webpage open on your computer, close all other applications if possible and do not open multiple instances of Canvas (either in a new window or tab).

If something happens and you get an error message, stay calm.  Take note of the date and time and details of the error.  Take a screen shot if possible.  Contact the Technology Help Desk and notify your instructor.

Also for Finals week students can access the N250 Open Lab on campus from 7a – midnight.
