In-person technology training is offered each quarter in A109 for Bellevue College faculty and staff.  Workshops are geared to learning web and desktop software used at the college and to improve basic fundamental understanding of working with technology.

Hours: Monday – Thursday – 9:30am – 6:00pm  |  Friday – 9:30am – 4:00pm

Tech Cafe

Need some extra help with Canvas? Our new Tech Cafe offers personalized tech support for you on any campus technology including Canvas.

What’s available for students?

Self-paced

  • Student User’s Guide to Canvas – This page will help you with the basics of getting started, getting your account set up, logging in the first time and where to find other technical help if you need it.
  • Canvas Student Orientation - An online, self-paced orientation you may view anytime.

Instructor-led

  • Canvas Online Learning Workshop - Get an idea of what it’s like to take an online class with this session. This course is designed to help you succeed in your online course. You’ll learn the software while learning about features like submitting your assignments and communicating with your instructor.
  • Canvas On-Campus Workshop - If face to face is more your speed, our Canvas On-Campus Workshop gives you a more personal orientation and introduction to Canvas, it’s features and how to succeed in your online course.

In-person workshops and walk-in help

Workshops and walk-in sessions are offered in A109 for faculty who want to learn Canvas.  These sessions focus on stepping you through Canvas features, working with site management screens and generally giving you the fundamentals of working with the tools.

Canvas Help Center

Instructure, the company that owns Canvas offers an online help website with guides, videos and a user community where you may connect with faculty from other colleges to share idea. Visit the Canvas Help Center.

Free Canvas test sites

Instructure offers free temporary sites for teachers who want to try out Canvas. If you aren’t scheduled to teach with Canvas in the fall, you can set up a temporary site anytime you wish by visiting www.instructure.com.

Faconline Listserv

If you’ve used Blackboard Vista in the past, it’s likely you’ve used faconline, Bellevue College’s listserv for faculty teaching online. This listserv is still the best way to connect with your BC faculty colleagues to share what you’ve learned about using Canvas, as well as exchange ideas about teaching online. Instructions for subscribing to Faconline.
