On June 5th Bellevue College is offering the eastside community the chance to experience a once in a lifetime opportunity! Venus is passing between the Sun and Earth and you are invited to view it through solar viewing telescopes and solar safe glasses. Bellevue College’s Earth and Space Science Club will host a viewing on the 5th floor of the BC parking garage from 2:30-sunset. The viewing will turn into a star party so that visitors can see other astronomical wonders the night sky has to offer.
According to the ScienceDaily, “it will take Venus about six hours to complete its transit, appearing as a small black dot on the Sun’s surface, in an event that will not happen again until 2117.”
We hope you’ll join us on June 5th for an event that promises to be out of this world!
